To provide better communication with our players, we would like to inform our community about the various methods used to update World of Warcraft. The following are the four major methods of updating the game: Content patch - The content patch introduces major additions and/or changes to the game, whether in terms of functionality, content, economy, social interaction, or combat. For example, we recently opened up the dungeon Maraudon, as well as adding the priest spell Prayer of Fortitude as part of the same content patch. Content patches require a maintenance period of several hours and are accompanied by a download and patch notes.
All Disorient effects have been renamed Incapacitate effects. This includes Gouge, Sap, etc. All Confusion effects have been renamed Disorient effects. This includes Blind, Scatter Shot, etc. Food and Drink are now in separate categories, so you can only have one food effect and one drink effect on you at a time.
How do the World of Warcraft gameplay servers relate to Battle.net and/or the Diablo Realms? The World of Warcraft servers utilize an entirely new network architecture that has been designed from the ground up specifically for this style of gameplay. We created this next-generation architecture by incorporating our knowledge of multiplayer gaming with our numerous Battle.net and Diablo experiences.
One exciting new feature in Wrath of the Lich King is that all raid content will be available as either a 10- or 25-person dungeon with completely independent progression paths. Both the 10- and 25-person versions will be the same dungeon; the look, layout, and design of the dungeon will remain the same. However, each will be adjusted, tuned, and balanced for its respective player size.
